Frequently Asked Questions
- What is ImageHost.org?
ImageHost.org is a free file and image hosting service. You can use our service to upload files and then link to them on forums, auctions, blogs or your personal website for free. - How does it work?
Just visit the front page (for example by clicking on the ImageHost.org logo on top of the page), select a file you want to upload using the Browse button and click Upload. After your file has been successfully uploaded several links will be shown which you can use on forums, auction websites, blogs etc. - Is hotlinking allowed?
Yes, hotlinking is allowed under certain conditions, which depend on the content type of the image. If an image is not eligable for hotlinking use the thumbnail or text links provided after upload instead.Allowed file types JPG, PNG, GIF Maximum file size 500 KB Maximum image size (pixels) 1600x1600 - What file types are allowed?
You may upload any kind of file: there are no restrictions. Some files (like PHP scripts) may be automatically stored inside ZIP archives for security reasons. The contents of the file will not be altered in that case. - What is the file size limit?
The maximum size of all files you can upload is 100 MB. Please note that this limit applies to all files combined. So you can either upload one file up to 100 MB in size, or upload several files whose combined size is 100 MB or less. - Can I upload multiple files at a time?
Yes, just click the small More link just below the file selection box. - Why are the download links not working?
The anti-hotlinking protection system used on files which are not eligible for hotlinking to uses links which expire after 6 hours or a certain number of connections (whichever comes first). Please make sure you always get a fresh download link from our site through the links provided. If you did this and it still doesn't work, try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache. - When will my file be deleted?
Your files will not be deleted unless they are not accessed for a certain period. Files smaller than 10 MB will be deleted after 180 days of inactivity. Files larger than 10 MB will be deleted after 30 days of inactivity. - Are there any bandwidth limits?
Yes, images which are being hotlinked to are limited to 250 MB of transfer per hour. If a hotlinked image exceeds this limit it will be automatically deleted. To prevent this from happening use thumbnails or text links to link to your image. - How do I delete a file?
Unfortunately there is no way of deleting files as of yet. If you do not care about the file you uploaded, just leave it: it will be deleted after a certain period of inactivity anyway. If you really urgently want a file to be removed from the site, contact support@imagehost.org. - What does the Gallery page do?
On the Gallery page you'll find a convenient list of all files you have uploaded so far. If for privacy reasons you don't want anyone using your computer to see what you have uploaded, just delete all cookies for ImageHost.org. Please note that you will not be able to recover the contents of you Gallery page if you do so. - Why is my Gallery page suddenly empty?
The Gallery page uses cookies to track which images you have uploaded. If you are using a different PC, different browser or if you have deleted cookies for ImageHost.org, the contents of your Gallery page will be reset. There is no way of recovering from this problem unfortunately.
